Rolling Fork, Mississippi is a city located in Sharkey County, Mississippi in the United States. It is situated on the banks of the Sunflower River which is a major tributary of the Mississippi River. Rolling Fork is the county seat of Sharkey County and has a population of approximately 1,200 people. The city covers an area of approximately three square miles. Rolling Fork is known for its contributions to the blues music scene and is the birthplace of legendary blues musician, Muddy Waters. The city is also known for its annual Great Delta Bear Affair which celebrates the area's rich wildlife heritage. The area around Rolling Fork is largely agricultural and includes cotton and soybean fields. The city is located on highway 61 which runs from New Orleans to Memphis and is a popular route for tourists traveling through the region. The Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area is located just east of Rolling Fork and includes a number of important cultural and historical sites.
